She is the daughter of a veteran actor- Shatrughan Sinha. Do you know that before she made a mark in the industry with her innocent looks, beautiful smile and good acting, Sonakshi Sinha actually weighed around 198 Pounds (90 kgs)? Yes, that’s right 198 pounds.

Sonakshi shed almost 66 pounds (30 kg) before she made her Bollywood debut opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg. She was 198 pounds (90 kg) when she began her weight loss journey. Apparently, it was Salman who coaxed her to lose weight and join films.

She lost a few pounds in a month which boosted her morale. But it wasn’t an easy ride as her gym sessions left her with constant aches and pains.

So what Sonakshi did to lose weight?

She did the followings on a regular basis:

  • Cardio
  • Weight training
  • Cycling
  • Tennis
  • Swimming
  • Spinning TM
  • Functional training

Three times a week, her trainer Yasmin Karachiwala made her work out initially twice a day and later four to five days a week for an hour and half. This was to help her lose weight and tone her body.

The biggest challenge for Sonakshi was to give up eating junk food and start eating healthy. Her trainer put her on a high-protein, low-carb diet to support her strenuous workout.

Sonakshi Sinha weight loss plan included drinking several cups of green tea throughout the day and kept herself hydrated with adequate amount of water. Another diet rule Sonakshi followed was eating small meals every three hours and avoiding carbs after 6 pm.

Here’s what her diet plan consisted of:

  • Breakfast: Cereal and milk or whole wheat toast
  • Mid morning: Some dry fruits and a cup of green tea
  • Lunch: Home-made roti and sabzi with salad
  • Evening: A fruit or a cup of green tea
  • Dinner: Dal, chicken, egg whites and fish

 

Her makeover was not overnight, she had to gradually embrace right foods to avoid flab rule over her body. The natural tendency of her body being vulnerable to grow plump might bestow you a reason to relate you with the hot celeb.

Workout Regime towards her weight loss biggest challenge

Her workout regime consisted of three days dedicated to strength training and cardio workouts. She embraced Bikram yoga. It’s a hot yoga performed in hot room having temperature of 104 F (forty degree Celsius). Being high-impact yoga, just fifteen to twenty minutes of yoga has your body sweat immensely and burn several pounds. Apart from conventional weight loss exercises, the actress also cherishes the time spent on playing tennis.

Sonakshi Advice to all who want to lose weight and get the same results that she had:

“Don’t expect results overnight. It took you months or years to pile on the extra pounds, what makes you think it will be gone in a few days? It is important to condition your mind and be patient during the process. Rather than dwelling on how much more you have to achieve, think of how far you have already come.”
